Enforcing non-EU judgments in the UK

An excellent article by John Abbott solicitor, in the Solicitors Journal 30 September 2014 page 28 www.solicitorsjournal.com/ gives a clear guidance on enforcing judgements of countries outside the EU.

Most obvious foreign countries have reciprocal arrangements and the English & Welsh High Court registers the judgement checks the requirements and is available for enforcement proceedings.

If the judgement was made in a country which does not have reciprocal arrangements, one enforces the judgement differently by bringing a new action based on the foreign judgement arbitration awards can also be enforced in similar fashion. Expert legal advice should be obtained at an early stage.
