The Adventure Park Bans Singles

The 10 November 2014 Times (thetimes.co.uk) tells us a story called “Park Bans Single Women and Men” because they wanted to visit an adventure park without children.

The reason given was the risk of paedophiles.

All of us wish to take the strongest action against these evil men, but this is a step too far and probably unlawful.

The grandfather in this story says he feels discriminated against.  He is right to feel that way because that is exactly what has happened.

This particular park featured falconry, one of his interests.

Although a private company is able to offer whatever services it chooses and, subject to discrimination law, admit who it chooses, this in effect is condemning any single person as a possible paedophile, which is defamatory and could be behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace.

The company could not lawfully refuse to admit women, or people over 65, or Muslims, gays or black people etc.

A grandfather should attempt to enter such a park, with a full blaze of publicity, to be turned away on camera for being an alleged paedophile, and then claim substantial damages.

As always in legal situations like this expert legal advice should be taken at an early stage.
