Driving Licences and Old Age
A High Court Judge has given hope to pensioners by quashing a decision to revoke a 78 year old’s driving licence.
The DVLC took the view that age alone was sufficient to remove a licence.
The Judge stamped on that idea.
There has to be medical evidence to show that the advanced age has impaired the fitness to drive.
An incident of bad driving which results in a decision of revocation, could be due to something else such as lack of skill, anxiety, nervousness, poor driving habits but not age of itself.
If your licence is threatened with revocation or disqualification take expert legal advice. Hylton-Potts in London but operating countrywide offer highly competitive fixed fees.

I am 73 and fit as a fiddle. The fact that the judge has quashed a decision regarding age and driving is beneficial for me. Age alone is not sufficient. Yes if with age medical conditions arise that effect your driving the DVLA have every right to revoke the license. Yes we are aged but not total invalids.

Exactly how it should be. Your everyday rights should not be effected by merely your age. Rodney
glad the judge quashed it its ridiculous
There are many young driver’s who should not be on the road. Fitness to drive should not be determined by age rather it should be determined by the care you take when driving. Adam from London
Indeed Adam, and that is what was established by the High Court Judge.
