In my long experience of this field the biggest mistake people make in your situation is hoping and believing it’s going to be amicable. Well it probably won’t be, and sadly more and more – especially when lawyers get involved – you can have real acrimony with money and children mixing.
The divorce itself we can handle for you. We do it for a fixed fee of £795 plus VAT, and you don’t have to go to court, and we handle it for you, hopefully in a sympathetic and sensible way; it takes about three months. Arising out of that there are disputes over financial claims and over children. We deal with these in a very no-nonsense sensible way.

In the real world of divorce these are a few of the things that happen. This is an insight of what might lie ahead. Calls are taped, post is steamed opened, husband use offshore companies to hide assets, there are medical reports telling you that your spouse is ill or clinically depressed, when you know it’s a lot of nonsense and drives you crazy. Joint bank accounts get frozen, people behave very badly over credit cards and the limits get breached and credit ratings are ruined – all that can lie ahead.
Now what we do is different from other lawyers. We sit down with you and we actually write down on the file what you want with a felt-tipped pen. You want a divorce, quickly and cheaply and with dignity. You want to sort out contact for the kids and you want a fair divorce settlement, and we put that on the file and we go and get it for you. And we try to avoid acrimony and fighting and we’re always fair and always polite, but if the other side are difficult and prove our worse fears to be your enemy, we will fight for you like you’ve never seen.
